Tracking Shot (Camera movement)
A tracking shot is any image where one or more moving subjects or persons are being followed or tracked by a moving camera. Lateral camera movement, which occurred almost exclusively on dolly tracks, was previously referred to as "tracking." A camera would "track-left" or "track-right," while forward movement was called a "dolly-out" and backward movement a "push in."
We can see this type if movement in films like
Russian Ark (2002) film
The Player (1992) film
Snake Eyes (2021) film
Atonement (2007) film
Children of Men (2006) film.
In this video we see tracking shots in action 🠋
